In the late 1990's Hobart was sold and split up among multiple companies. Before the split all machines were identified by a spec number which was normally 4 digits followed by a letter and perhaps followed by a dash and another digit. A spec number would look something like 3456A-001.
When the split happened pieces of Hobart were acquired by many companies--Esab, Prestolite Power, Powcon, Thermal Arc, Panasonic, and Miller. If you have an older machine with a spec number the easiest way to proceed is to give us a call. We have an older microfiche deck with many of the spec numbers and can, with luck, find a part number and availability.
If you spot a serial number that starts with 2 letters and is followed by 6 digits your machine was made by Miller after the split. In this case go to our Miller Parts Lookup page and follow the instructions.
